Laura Rambo
Photography
At my husband's insistence, I purchased my first digital
camera to take pictures of his radio control flying. One afternoon while
at the flying field the most beautiful moth landed on a daisy; at that
moment I knew that my focus would turn to macro flower photography.
Some of my fondest memories as a child are of my grandmother's
garden and the wonderful floral scents. She once said, "wherever
you go and whatever you do, tend your garden with passion and it will
make your soul blossom." My art, like my grandmother's garden is
in continual evolution; I am also pursing my photographic interests in
landscapes, people, and animals.
I process my pictures digitally instead of the traditional dark room.
With my "flower art", I raise the flowers; choose the finest
artist canvas, watercolor or photographic papers to achieve balance. This
involvement helps me to express and convey the passion and intimate connection
I have with my art. To insure the visual integrity of each piece I do
my own printing, which helps me to maintain the visual balance and this
"hands on approach" continues through the framing process. This
is what makes each piece of my art unique.
"Rambeau's Reflections" (my logo) is in honor
of my French ancestors who, when they immigrated to this country had their
named changed from Rambeau to Rambo as they were processed through Ellis
Island.
"A great photograph is one that fully expresses
what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed."
