Ingred Aubry

Ingrid Vance Aubry is a graphic designer and photographer who has combined her two loves into a unique form of photographic art. Her primary inspiration comes from the exquisite forms of flowers and foliage of the Northwest.

Ranging from traditional photography to avant-garde photocollage, she often incorporates whimsical or interesting found objects in her photos. Some involve the application of real pressed botanicals layered on top of the photographic art (called "photanicals").

Her photocollage technique involves combining, interweaving, and manipulating multiple layers of images on the computer, resulting in a dreamlike and fanciful quality.

Laura Rambo

Photography

At my husband's insistence, I purchased my first digital camera to take pictures of his radio control flying. One afternoon while at the flying field the most beautiful moth landed on a daisy; at that moment I knew that my focus would turn to macro flower photography.

Some of my fondest memories as a child are of my grandmother's garden and the wonderful floral scents. She once said, "wherever you go and whatever you do, tend your garden with passion and it will make your soul blossom." My art, like my grandmother's garden is in continual evolution; I am also pursing my photographic interests in landscapes, people, and animals.

I process my pictures digitally instead of the traditional dark room. With my "flower art", I raise the flowers; choose the finest artist canvas, watercolor or photographic papers to achieve balance. This involvement helps me to express and convey the passion and intimate connection I have with my art. To insure the visual integrity of each piece I do my own printing, which helps me to maintain the visual balance and this "hands on approach" continues through the framing process. This is what makes each piece of my art unique.

"Rambeau's Reflections" (my logo) is in honor of my French ancestors who, when they immigrated to this country had their named changed from Rambeau to Rambo as they were processed through Ellis Island.

"A great photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed." Ansel Adams

Original Oils

I have always drawn or painted and cannot imagine my life without doing art. It is just part of who I am. I combine my classical art training with my love for pure colors to create "bright art." I use my knowledge from designing and building stained glass windows for more than ten years to enhance my realistic paintings with brilliant color. I love the challenge of capturing the spirit and personality of the subject in a painting.

I begin by studying the subject from different angles to see which best brings out their character. I often do several charcoal or pencil drawings to capture the nuances of their features. I draw the image in charcoal on my prepared canvas without projections and make changes to emphasize various lines. Then I usually paint the whole painting in a monochrome. This allows me to study the effects of lights and shadows to see how they interplay within the painting. The underlying color will subtly affect new colors added later which ties the painting together and stimulates the specific feeling I am creating.

I use oils because it adds texture and allows layering of colors. I paint primarily with Gamblin paint and medium. I obtain a wealth of color by painting bright colors infused with sunlight. I select colors to enhance warm and cool areas as well as light and shadow. I love the interplay of the enhanced colors of the subject's spirit with reality. It is like the subtonic note - a little edgy but exciting within a world of major chords. I know a piece is finished when my spirit resonates with its message.

When people see my work, I would like them to interact with the painting and be touched by the subject's character. Their mind finds the realism within the brilliant colors. I want my paintings to communicate the subject's spirit and fill the viewer with a sense of awe and magic - Bright Art.
